Threek

Spotify, Music and a browser tab all want your ⏯ key. Threek lets you pick which one gets it, right from the keyboard.

What it does

• You pick the app

  With two or three apps in Now Playing, ⏯ shows each one above the F-key that picks it. Press F7, F8 or F9.

• Out of the way

  Only one app playing? The key goes straight to it, no HUD. Esc or a few seconds dismisses the picker.

• Paused apps too

  Lists every app registered with Now Playing, not just the last one, so you can resume the right one.

• Many apps

  With four or more, ⏮ and ⏭ move through a carousel and ⏯ confirms.

• No remapping

  Works with the real media keys. No Karabiner or keyboard settings needed.

• Private

  No analytics. The only thing it fetches is its own update check.

First launch

1. Open Threek.dmg and drag Threek into Applications.
2. Threek isn't notarized by Apple, so macOS blocks the first launch. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
3. Allow Threek in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, so it can see the media keys.
4. The first time Threek controls a media app, macOS asks to let it. Allow it once per app.
